The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is shaping lives through theatre education by: honoring student achievement in theatre and enriching their theatre education experience; supporting teachers by providing professional development, networking opportunities, resources, and recognition; and influencing public opinion that theatre education is essential and builds life skills. EdTA operates the International Thespian Society (ITS), an honorary organization for high school and middle school theatre students located at more than 4,900 affiliated secondary schools across America and abroad, and has inducted more than 2.3 million theatre students since its founding in 1929. The mission of ITS is to honor student achievement in the theatre arts.
Ross High School’s Troupe #1216 has a long, rich history that begin with its founding in 1975, and has inducted new members every year since. High school students can earn membership into this honor society through participation and excellence in all areas of the performing arts. Their induction into the society is celebrated at the annual ceremony which takes place at the end of the school year. As members, students will be honored at a national level and have access to resources beyond those of their school, including honors to enhance college and employment applications, invitation to state and national festivals and workshops, and access to exclusive scholarships and training.
Thespian Troupe Officers
The Officers of Thespian Troupe 1216 are nominated each year by their peers and serve as the leaders of RAM Theatre Project.
They work closely with Mr. Maus to set promote the growth of the program by setting goals for the year, cultivating the culture of the program, and creating the events and happenings throughout the year.
